Hailing from Cape Town, Peasant unleash punishing Metallic Hardcore that bristles with ferocity and fiery conviction. I am utterly smitten by their raw, crushing and angst infused sonic battery.
Featuring Adri Jordaan on Vocals, Pieter Jordaan & Immanuel Bester on Guitars, Keagan V Rooyen on Bass and Graham Pitout on Drums, this furious quintet are responsible for some of the most savage South African Metallic Hardcore I have been fortunate to hear.
Following on from their 2021 EP ‘Kingdom’ , Peasant are once again on the warpath and their latest single ‘Cape Death’ is the first in a string of singles that Peasant are due to release this year.
‘Cape Death’ is an explosive Molotov cocktail of scorching guitars, belligerent vocals and bludgeoning drums that brings to mind All Out War, Ringworm, Buried Alive and Terror in equal measure.
Throughout its two minutes and fifty one seconds one is treated to an exercise in volcanic Metallic Hardcore that barrels forward like a freight train.
Threaded through with blackened riffs, growling vocals and double kick bludgeon, ‘Cape Death’ asserts a stranglehold over one’s being as it sets everything within its orbit ablaze with its feral fusion of Metal and Hardcore.
Alongside bands such as Ghast and Boiling Point, Peasant are at the forefront of contemporary South African Hardcore and it will be to your detriment if you do not check out these fellows posthaste.
Also be sure to check out the blistering music video for ‘Cape Death’ and witness the visual vitriol unfold!
