MAZE OF SOTHOTH – EXTIRPATED LIGHT

On their most recent album ‘Extirpated Light’ Maze Of Sothoth unleash a maelstrom of tumultuous Technical Death Metal that is as merciless as it is musically awe inspiring.

This thirty six minute exercise in frenetic, ferocious and frantic Tech-Death fury drinks from the same smouldering sonic cesspool frequented by Unmerciful, Dim Mak, Marasmus, Perdition Temple, Nile, Hate Eternal and Krisiun.

Released by the mighty Everlasting Spew collective, ‘Extirpated Light’ is a malevolent exercise in immaculately executed towering Tech-Death where high-octane rhythmic hysteria, explosive riffs, utterly blistering drumming and growling vocals collide in an inferno of corrosive majesty.

This is the type of dark and destructive Death Metal that gives me a reason to live; a veritable incineration chamber of churning guitars, warped time signatures, devastating drumming and skin shredding solos that converge to create the type of volcanic fare that will appeal to both fans of Morbid Angel and Mortal Decay in equal measure.

The drumming on this vitriolic album is an awe inspiring feat to bear witness to as vein bursting snare fills and manic blast beats rain down like a swarm of bullets on a battlefield spattered in blood and spent shell casings. Witness the violent conviction of opening track “The Unspeakable” and be immersed in a flood of insane drum histrionics that will leave you speechless.

The stuttering inferno of twisted riffs and brain battering arpeggio abuse that make up “The Plague” will pummel you beneath their bone shattering bluster in the most blissfully vile fashion.

Every one of the nine tracks that construct ‘Extirpated Light’ are an exercise in auricular evisceration with last track “Scorn Of Flesh” ending the proceedings in a suitably punishing and pulverizing fashion.

If you crave crushing Tech-Death then look no further and wrap your ears around this magnificent and mammoth work of sonic wildfire post-haste.
