Kublai Khan TX – The Mountain of Corsicana

Kublai Khan TX dropped their latest single, The Mountain of Corsicana earlier in September. If you haven’t checked it out yet; it’s massive and it smashes!

These beasts from Texas have collected, compounded, and cast a slab of sound akin to sonic cement, which pummels and pulverises all on its path. The band describes the inspiration behind the track as “a monument to the final man”. The message and symbolism is empowering as it faces concepts pertinent to the spirit of progress in the face of the inevitable.

The band went through a lineup change earlier in the year with original member, Nolan Ashley stepping down, citing physical challenges after a recent surgery. The collective hasn’t lost momentum and has since employed Nicholas Adams as the new guitar man. The riffs on this track are stank-face inducing and even remind me of eastern tinged melodies in parts.

The Mountain of Corsicana is heavy and laden with groove; I’m definitely going to be adding this to my workout playlist. Written and recorded masterfully, with each individual instrument pitching their power, while working so well together in the bigger picture.

Speaking of pictures.. The track’s release came accompanied with a music video that may just knock the wind from your lungs! Directed by Max Moore, the cinematography and scenes are potent and impactful.

I thoroughly enjoyed this release – from the badass hooks to the crushing breakdown at the end; it’s a banger! I’ll certainly be keeping an eye and an ear out for what these kings have in store for us in the future.
