CHAOS DOCTRINE – A TRIAD OF MAYHEM

South African Metal titans Chaos Doctrine are back on the attack with not one but three turbo-charged singles that will set your synapses ablaze in a conflagration of bliss and primal fury. Featuring the inimitable Doctor D on vocals, Alex Surridge on guitar, Phil Carstens on bass & backing vocals and Jason Eedes on Drums, these veterans of sonic vitriol have presented us with a trident of turbulent and iconoclastic tracks that are as unique as they are intense and nuanced.

‘The SA-bbath Doctrine Chapter III SA Tribute Mix’ is a masterclass that amounts to being an iconoclastic homage to the mighty Black Sabbath. Featuring a confluence of ‘Sabbath classics including ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’, ‘Sweet Leaf’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Symptom Of The Universe’, ‘Paranoid’, ‘War Pigs’, ‘Heaven And Hell’, ‘N.I.B’ and ‘Black Sabbath’, said tribute is a seamless and smoldering mix that is seven minutes and thirty seconds in length. Expect to be trampled beneath a blistering confluence of classic ‘Sabbath as funneled through the ferocious Industrial-Thrash template that Chaos Doctrine are known for, albeit with a traditional bent that takes into account the integrity of the material which they draw upon.

Featuring a plethora of local talent including Ryno Theron and Renz Kruger (Truth Decayed), Aiden Morris and Jaz De Wet (State Dependency), Buchanan Marais (Nachtegal), Charl Du Plessis (Nerve Zero/Sacrifist), Bronwyn Bing (ex Apocalypse Later), Laura Cayzer (Capgras Delusion), Jamie Hendry (Jasper Dan), Carlos Sanchez (Deadline) and of course, leading the charge, the one and only Doctor D, this collaboration is a conflux of crushing fun!

Featuring Craig Mackinnon and Bronwyn Bing the reimagined reworking of ‘The Rite (Devil Divas and Harps Mix)’ tells the old age tale of selling one’s soul to the devil at the crossroads. Bronwyn Bing’s vocals are as insidious as they are sensual, taking the lead in a track that begins in a murky, plodding manner and progresses into a warped work of mid tempo malevolence where the haunting blues harmonica melodies conjured forth by Craig Mackinnon are paramount. ‘The Rite (Devil Divas and Harps Mix) is a haunting slice of recalibrated songcraft that will make your skin crawl with its dark atmospherics, sinuous instrumentation, infectious vocals and nuanced layering.

The newest addition to the Chaos Doctrine canon titled ‘The Rite II’ is  a southern fried slab of simmering menace that solidifies the fact that although Chaos Doctrine are synonymous with their patented brand of blistering Industrial Metal they are a dynamic collective of musicians that create music across the divide. Maudlin and deliciously macabre, peppered with punishing riffs and an overall air of dread, ‘The Rite II’ is a voracious piece of music that is scrumptiously vile and vivacious, a prime addition to the Chaos Doctrine canon.

In conclusion, the latest trident of tracks by Chaos Doctrine are awe-inspiring in their ethos, execution and sonic vision. Due to be released on the 28th of February, this trident of turbulent tracks will undoubtedly hold all who experience them captive in their iconoclastic sonic embrace!
