Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Amammoth concoct a heady a brew of blissfully bludgeoning Stoner/Sludge that will appeal to fans of Electric Wizard, Kyuss, Come To Grief and Nebula in equal measure.
‘Among Us’ is the second single taken from their latest album ‘Distant Skies And The Ocean Flies’ released by Stoner/Sludge/Psych/Doom powerhouse Electric Valley Records.
With a distinct B-Movie sheen due to its visual tapestry which immaculately stitches together scenes from many schlock fests, the music video for ‘Among Us’ is a fun watch where warfare, UFOs, aliens, volcanic eruptions, landfalls and outer space sequences smolder within a hallucinogenic cauldron which will dislodge the latent LSD crystals from the bottom of your spine!
Beginning with a lumbering, repetitive rhythm that unfurls itself with menacing intent and megalithic immensity over a nine minute and twenty five second track, ‘Among Us’ proves to be a hypnotic and psychedelic experience.
Come its latter half, ‘Among Us’ continues on a trajectory where commanding vocals and evocative layers of organ playing steer its sonic narrative to a scorching conclusion in which the earth lays in embers and ash.
With thick riffs, crushing rhythms, vitriolic vocals and some seriously gnarly guitar effects alongside the deathly organ melodies which accompany its run time ‘Among Us’ is a enormous slab of psychedelic Stoner-Sludge that staggers its way forward upon an apocalyptic bedrock of smashed earth and extraterrestrial beings.
