UP UP & AWAY! A Truly “Out of this World” Experience!

For those of us who were fortunate enough to be beamed up and dropped off at Rumours Lounge last Friday night (May 9th) certainly left the mundane and mediocre world behind and was transported to another dimension!

Among the crowd were some truly peculiar looking humanoids – how many of these were just in costume for the dress-up competition remains a mystery. I am however fairly confident that most of those present there were interstellar travelers.

Our first point of contact with extraterrestrial expression was through the collective who call themselves The Thr3 Project – a trio of otherworldly entities, who made use of sonic sorcery to encode patterns into our minds, helping to enhance our perception and sensitivity to rhythm and frequency.

The atmosphere they create is immense and immersive – introspective and reflective if the listener would allow it. Their progressive sound with lush layers of instrumentation is truly a treat to the senses. Their performance is tight, their music fascinating, and their feel is absolutely authentic.

One of the members (the bass man from space) also had some of his visual creations on display. The feelings and thoughts these images evoke are somewhat alien, yet familiar to the human condition – perhaps we are not so different after all.

Once The Thr3 Project had concluded their set and we had been conditioned for prolonged exposure to extraterrestrial song, we were ready for another collective. From a distant star system, far beyond the reaches of Earth’s scanners; The UFO Experience invaded our airwaves.

Adaptable and constantly evolving, I’m almost certain that these folk are somehow related to the cephalopods. Their sound, as well as performance is organic, original, and spontaneous; their presence on stage is undeniable with their quirky and comic personalities. Good luck trying to fit these travelers of space and time into a box, for they are uniquely themselves and there’s definitely no other crew out there quite like them.

If you missed Friday night and especially if you have not yet had the opportunity to experience these terrifically talented collectives, I would highly suggest sticking a thumb in the air and catching a ride – galactic hitchhiker style.
