Hollywood Undead have just unleashed “SAVIOR”, their second single on Sumerian Records, accompanied by a striking new music video. As someone not intimately familiar with their catalogue, I approached this release with no preconceptions or expectations.
Following their recent move to Sumerian Records, the band have signalled a strategic shift. While they’re already at work on a ninth studio album, they’ve confirmed it won’t arrive for some time. Instead, Hollywood Undead plan to capitalise on the modern music landscape by prioritising standalone singles—though full-length records are still on the horizon.
First Impressions
From the very first bars, “SAVIOR” impresses with its polished, high-quality production. The guitars hit with modern heft, and the mix is clean and powerful. It’s heavy, yet refined—a testament to the band’s evolution.
Vocals & Dynamics
When the vocals enter, the instrumentation pulls back slightly, creating a more intimate atmosphere. This sense of vulnerability is a departure from their signature bombast, revealing a deeper emotional core.
Production & Style
Post-production flourishes abound. Subtle electronic elements weave through the track, giving it an energised, contemporary edge. While nu-metal purists might seek heavier riffs, “SAVIOR” strikes a compelling balance between aggression and accessibility. Though not exactly my broth of bone – the songwriting is dynamic, the performances are tight, and the overall package feels fresh.
Dwell in Darkness. Live in Light.
