FADING GRAY – MOVING PARTS (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

Fading Gray have just dropped their debut music video for their track, Moving Parts. The song has a strong message of positivity and inspires to uplift the listener, reminding us that we are in control of the choices we make and should take responsibility for our actions; moving ever closer to what it is we aspire to.

The music video starts off with some truly breath-taking cinematography – really nice attention to detail, with great shots and wicked angles. There’s this foreboding digitally composed intro with massive, sinister bass and a tense build-up. The intro riff kicks in – a short, clean melody, setting a nice atmosphere and leads into a high energy verse, dripping with punk attitude and drive.

Honestly, I was expecting a harder, heavier opening riff after the immense build-up, which the intro shots and sounds set up so nicely. It feels like the pressure that was created, kind of falls flat with the more tame and friendly instruments and vocals that follow. It’s a good song though, with catchy hooks and a nice interplay of parts.

I experienced something similar with the visual side of the video – I feel like the brilliant, almost cinematic opening placed the bar very high for what one would expect to follow. There were some fantastic shots, but I believe that there was a lot of potential that wasn’t utilised.
The band looked really good, but I would’ve loved to see some more artistic and cinematic shots mixed in between the band jamming.

For Fading Gray’s first ever music video, I think it’s very impressive and there will of course be room for improvement. It’s obvious that they have been putting care and attention into the direction they are going and I believe that if they continue to hone their sound, style, and performance; they will be well on their way to success.
